Twitch.tv is the most popular video gaming streaming service around, equally famous for its chat system as its content. BetterTTV brings users and streamers an advanced suite of custom extras, including phrase banning, custom colour modes, anonymous viewing and more. The app works within the existing site with buttons added for individual features and a larger overlay for specific functions. Some of the best added extras are the ability to hover over links for image previews and see deleted comments. The plug-in provides a much improved viewing experience, but a recent patch has removed some features. This has resulted in some issues while viewing streams including buffering and errors in colour display. Users can also purchase the ability to highlight themselves to other users of the service. Despite these recent negative issues, BetterTTV is still a generally positive addition to regular Twitch viewers.
One for the fans
BetterTTV is a useful free download for fans of the streaming site. While recent updates have been negatively received by the fan base, the overall functionality has remained. The plug-in does not function on any other site, however.
